Origami Money Flowers, an easy 5 minute design
Wondering about the bills in the picture? I was in Australia recently visiting family. The money there is wonderfully colourful so I thought I'd try making a flower with it!
Money bouquets are great for weddings, graduations, and other occasions when you want to say "congratulations!". Use a handful of dollar bills (or larger denominations) to make an entire bouquet of money flowers, or just make a couple and mix them in with a bouquet of real flowers.
The instructions on this page are based on a neat dollar bill origami flower design by djmicho. I think that the original design was actually for Euros, which are shorter and wider than American dollars. So, I've adapted the design to shorten the petals slightly and give the flower a fuller shape. Try it and see how you like it :-)
(By the way, when you searched for money origami flowers, perhaps you really meant money origami roses.)
Picture Instructions
Equipment
* dollar bill (or other denomniation) × 3
* 5 inches of floral wire or craft wire
Step 1: Pick one bill to start with. Fold in each side of the bill by about half an inch. The more you fold in, the shorter the petals of the flower will be. (Petals that are too long look silly.)
Step 2: Fold bill in half lengthwise, then unfold.
Step 3: Fold the corners in to meet the centre line.
Step 4: Fold the top and bottom edges to the centre line.
Step 5: Fold in half lengthwise.
Step 6: Fold in half again.
Step 7: Fold the other two bills in the same way, i.e. re-do steps 1 to 6. Then, wire the three bills together like this. Just loop the wire around all three, and twist the wire at the bottom.
Step 8: Spread the petals, and you've finished!
